Fast and Furious Healthy Drinks to Mix

The key to inventive juice and smoothie recipes is to know which flavours go together. There are some fruits and flavours that seem like they don’t belong at all but in fact, do. Figuring out the right combination can help you decide which ones to put together. All you need to do is get hold of a juicer or blender, a chopping board, a sharp knife and tons of ingredients.

Banana Smoothie

This is a classic. A twist on the banana shake, all you need to do is take out the ice cream and replace it with milk or cream. In order to enhance the flavours and make it healthier, add honey and use coconut milk or cream. Coconut has plenty of vitamins and flavonoids that can help your skin and hair. If you want to make it crunchy, add nuts. If you want to make it smooth, use cream. You can also add a dash of cinnamon or paprika to the top as decoration or for actual flavour. If you are going all out, add chocolate.

Breakfast Yoghurt

Who wants to eat boring breakfast yoghurt? Spice it up by adding blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or any other kind of berry, diced and cleaned, into your yoghurt and then blending it. If the yoghurt is thick and goopy, add a dash of milk to soften it up. If you like it creamy, you can whip it a bit before blending it. You can sprinkle chopped nuts on it once you are done, or have a complement of cornflakes to go with it. This saves time since you don’t need a bowl to eat it from; simply put it in your go-to cup and take it with you to work.

Healthy Drinks

Minty Fresh

This one takes a little longer simply because of the prep. If you want to cut time, do your prep beforehand so you don’t have to worry about it when you are in a hurry and need to get your energizing vegetable smoothie NOW. Chop up different leaves like kale and add a small handful of mint to it too. Grate carrots and beetroot into it and blend all together. Strain to get out bigger pieces and serve garnished with a sprig of mint. Don’t forget to add salt, sugar or pepper according to your taste.

The important thing to remember in mixing healthy drinks is that the ingredients have to be as fresh as possible. The older they are, the more they have lost their nutrients. Also, don’t be afraid to experiment; try different flavours like lime and mint together, or orange juice in chicken stock. The goal here is to get as much nutrients into your body as possible, not to make the drink look attractive.
