Breakfast Ideas That Take Less Than 15 Minutes

Having breakfast before running to work, is a concept that is increasingly becoming foreign to us. Breakfast is an important meal however, and skipping it can bring terrible consequences long term. So here are some quickie breakfasts you can make in 15 minutes or less.

Anything Eggs

Eggs are the ultimate breakfast food, especially because they need next to nothing added to make it flavourful and healthy. It’s handy to keep onions, chives and peppers chopped and ready to go in your fridge because that will cut down on meal prep. Even if you don’t have that, all you have to do is put the frying pan on the stove, turn it on and leave a bit of butter on it to melt. While that’s melting and sizzling, break 2-3 eggs into a bowl and whisk. Add onions and peppers if you have them, or not if you don’t. Pour the mixture onto the pan and cover it. Leave it a couple of minutes and then flip the omelette. Ready in 10 minutes. If you prefer scrambled eggs, add milk into the mixture and keep stirring it till it scrambles.

Meat and Toast

Protein is an excellent source of energy for the morning, so put that frying pan on the fire and throw in a few rashes of bacon or some sausages. Sprinkle some pepper over it to settle your stomach early in the morning. While that’s being fried, take 2 slices of bread and stick them in the toaster. If you don’t have a toaster wait for your meat to be done and then lay the bread on the pan. It will toast them nicely. Once the meal is ready you can put it in a box or baggy and take it with you or eat it quickly then and there because it is simple to eat as well as to make. Don’t forget to wash down with orange juice.

Fruit Salads

This is one for prep: dice all your favourite fruits and refrigerate them in separate containers. In the morning, take a spoonful from each and mix it altogether in a bowl. Add raisins and lime juice if you want it to taste tangy. You could also hold the lime and eat it with yoghurt instead. If you would rather have a smoothie, put all the fruits in a blender, add in some yoghurt and blend until the consistency is right for drinking. You may have to add a dash of milk. This is a great to-go breakfast because you can take it in your travel cup. If you don’t like yogurt but need something sweet with your fruit salad instead, you can pour condensed milk over it instead.
